Sweeney Todd Barbers Chair
Made in The National Theatres workshops for the 1993 production of Sweeney Todd. The barbers chair can collapse in to a slide by the pull of a lever. Allowing the Demon Barber to dispense of his fresh corpses through a trap door to Mrs Lovett's pie shop. It has a metal frame clad with plywood with a leather seat and arms. We also have Sweeny's razors and Mrs Lovett's meat grinder.

Terms & Conditions of Hire 1 The Hirer is responsible for the Hire Goods (as per invoice/order indicated) whilst in the Hirer’s care, custody or control and for any loss or damage to the Hire Goods. The National Theatre (NT) will charge the Hirer the full replacement cost for any Hire Goods which are not returned. 2 The Hirer will effect comprehensive ‘all risks’ insurance cover for the Hire Goods and will be required, on request by the NT, to produce proof of such insurance cover before the Hire Goods leave the NT’s Costume and Props Store. 3 The Hire Goods remain at all times the property of the NT. 4 The Hire Goods must be returned on the date specified on the order/invoice. NT will not refund any part of the Hire Charge when Hire Goods are returned before the date specified. 5 If the Hire Goods are returned after the date specified, NT will charge the Hirer an additional sum calculated at the weekly rate, and is entitled to recover from the Hirer other costs incurred by NT as a result of the late return of the Hire Goods. If after 7 days the Hire Goods have not been returned NT will charge the Hirer the full replacement cost of the Hire Goods. 6 The Hire Goods are hired as seen. If the Hirer requires any alterations to the Hire Goods these must be discussed with and agreed by NT prior to the commencement of the hire. Any agreed Alterations must be carried out by a properly qualified seamstress or prop maker. NT is entitled to charge the Hirer the cost of replacing any Hire Goods which have been subject to unauthorised alteration. 7 The Hirer is advised to view stock before making arrangements for a hire. Where an arrangement to hire goods has been made by telephone, email or letter, and the Hire Goods have not been seen by the Hirer before the commencement of the hire, NT will use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that these meet the Hirer’s requirements and are available and in good order for the hire. 8 Where Hire Goods have been reserved in advance of the hire, NT will not be responsible to the Hirer for any expenses incurred or losses suffered either directly or indirectly, as a result of the Hire Goods becoming damaged, or otherwise unsuitable for hire or becoming unavailable for hire for any reason outside the reasonable control of NT. The Hirer is advised to insure against this eventuality. Any advance payment made in respect of the hire will be refunded by NT to the Hirer. 9 Payment The Hirer will pay the Hire Charge in full on collection. Where NT agrees to invoice the Hirer for the Hire Charge, payment will be required within 21 days of the date of the invoice. NT may require the Hirer to pay on collection a deposit which will be refunded in full only on return of the Hire Goods to NT in good condition (see paragraph 11 below) and on the return date specified. NT is entitled to charge the Hirer reasonable additional charges to cover cleaning and repair or replacement of the Hire Goods. BACS PAYMENTS Bank: Coutts & Co. Account name: Royal National Theatre. Please DO NOT send cheques. 11 Return of Hire Goods Hire Goods must be returned in the good condition, that is in the same condition as they were in when the Hire began. In particular the Bar code labels must not be removed Disclaimer The National Theatre does no accept any responsibility for any injury, loss or damage caused directly or indirectly by any item hired from the National Theatre Hire Department. All items are hired as seen and the NT gives no undertakings as to their condition or fitness for purpose. All items must be hired by the hirer for theatrical purposes only. Your attentions is drawn to the following: Armour/ Weaponry All armour, weapons, shields etc are hired strictly as dress props and are not suitable for fighting purposes. It Is the Hire(s) responsibility to ensure that they are only used safely for theatrical purposes and , when not in use, are stored securely in a safe environment. Furniture/Props/ All furniture and props are hired as theatrical props and should only be used for that purpose. Whilst much of the NT hire stock has been used on NT productions, the NT does not provide any evidence of fire-proofing and takes no responsibility for the use of such items by the Hirer. Electrical Goods All electrical goods are hired as “non-working”. All customers hiring stock from NT Hire are subject to these terms and conditions.
